Home Visit Physiotherapy in Chichester

Getting to a clinic from Chichester and its villages is hard work when you are recovering. Parking at St Richard's can be a challenge, buses mean stops and walking, and a lift from family means someone taking time off work. So we come to you instead. Every visit is a full hour of one-to-one physiotherapy in your own home, with an HCPC-registered physiotherapist.

  • £90 for a full hour of one-to-one physiotherapy, with everything included
  • The same physiotherapist at every visit, so they get to know your home and your routine
  • HCPC-registered physiotherapists, all members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • We can usually start within 48 hours of you leaving hospital

Charlie has been fantastic after my hip replacement, just can't recommend him enough. He was very patient with me while encouraging me with new exercises, and has really helped my confidence to move forward. I've made progress much quicker than I thought I would and that's all thanks to Charlie.

After being let down by the NHS I was delighted to find South Coast Home Physiotherapy and it was a real bonus that they come to the home. Emily is skilled, helpful, friendly and solutions focused, providing the 1-1 support my daughter needs.

I had my first appointment with Charlie last month after coming out of hospital with 5 vertebral fractures. Barely able to walk or do anything for myself. Now 7 weeks later I'm able to walk unaided and do everything to look after myself.

Coming Home From Hospital in Chichester

Wherever you were treated, we can usually start physiotherapy at home within 48 hours of discharge. Starting early is one of the biggest factors in getting your independence back.

  • St Richard's Hospital. Coming home after a fall, a fracture, a stroke or a long stay on a ward. We read the discharge plan and aim to make the first visit within 48 hours.
  • Nuffield Chichester Hospital. After a private hip or knee replacement, we follow your surgeon's protocol from the first week home, so you are not waiting weeks for outpatient physio.
  • Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital. Leaving the community hospital and heading home? We carry on your rehabilitation in your own house, picking up the programme the ward started.
  • Queen Alexandra Hospital. Treated at QA in Cosham and living around Emsworth or Southbourne? We start rehabilitation at home in the days after discharge, as we do across Havant.

Areas we visit

Where We Visit Around Chichester

Chichester is the newest part of our area, joining Havant, Emsworth and Hayling Island next door. We plan visits by area, so we can usually offer a morning or afternoon that suits you, including in bungalows, retirement developments and care homes. Most of our clients here are older adults recovering from a fall, an operation or a hospital stay, or living with a neurological condition such as stroke, Parkinson's, MS or a spinal cord injury, but we also see working-age adults with back, hip, knee and shoulder pain who would simply rather not travel.

We visit across PO10 and PO18 to PO22:

  • The city (PO19). The city centre, Summersdale, Parklands, Whyke, Donnington, Fishbourne
  • Harbour villages (PO18). Bosham, Chidham, Nutbourne, Funtington, Boxgrove
  • Emsworth and Southbourne (PO10). Emsworth, Southbourne, Westbourne, Hermitage
  • The Manhood Peninsula (PO20). Selsey, East and West Wittering, Bracklesham, Birdham, Sidlesham, Hunston
  • East of the city (PO20). Tangmere, Oving, Westergate, Barnham
  • Bognor Regis (PO21, PO22). Bognor, Aldwick, Felpham, Pagham, Rose Green

Bungalows, Harbour Villages and the Peninsula

Around Chichester you are as likely to live in a bungalow on the Manhood Peninsula or an older cottage by the harbour as in a city terrace, and Selsey and the Witterings are reached by one main road that gets busy in summer. Every first visit includes a look at your steps, thresholds, lighting and furniture heights, with practical suggestions. We practise on your own path, your own steps and your own garden, which is far more useful than a clinic step you will never see again.

Yes, from Emsworth and Bosham in the west to Tangmere and Bognor Regis in the east, and from the city down to Selsey and the Witterings. Bognor Regis has its own page, and we also run regular rounds in Havant, Emsworth and Hayling Island if you are just over the border in Hampshire.

Ours are £90 for a full hour, everything included, with the same price in the city and the villages. See the pricing page for details.

We aim to make the first visit within 48 hours of discharge from St Richard's, Bognor Regis War Memorial or QA. Call us to book before you leave the ward if you can, and we will plan the first visit around your discharge date. Our post-hospital rehabilitation page explains how the handover works.

Yes. We follow your surgeon's instructions and precautions, and the same physiotherapist sees you every visit. See our guides to knee replacement and hip replacement rehabilitation.

No. You can book directly, or a relative, case manager or care home can arrange it for you. Case managers in West Sussex can see how we work on our case managers page.

If you live anywhere from Emsworth to Bognor Regis, and from the city down to Selsey, yes. Tell us your postcode when you call and we will offer a time on the day we are already visiting your area.

No. Most of our work is with older adults, but we also treat working-age adults at home for back pain, hip pain, knee pain and shoulder pain, including people without a car and those who would rather not travel.

Yes. Neuro physiotherapy at home is one of our specialisms: stroke, Parkinson's, MS, brain injury and spinal cord injury, with frequent, task-specific practice in the place you actually live.
