Group Exercise Classes for Care Homes

Exercise is more fun together. Our physiotherapist-led group classes bring residents together for seated and standing exercise that is adapted to a wide range of abilities.

Sessions mix strength, balance and mobility work with games, music and props (boxing pads, resistance bands, balls and pom-poms all make regular appearances), so residents look forward to them.

Classes can run weekly or more often, and we report back to your staff on who is progressing and who may benefit from one-to-one support.

A typical class runs seated and standing options side by side, so residents of very different abilities exercise together: a gentle warm-up, a strength and balance circuit, then games with props (balls, bands, boxing pads, pom-poms) that get genuine effort out of people who would never call it exercise. We finish with a cool-down and a word with staff about who did what.

Available across Southampton, Portsmouth, Fareham, Winchester, Salisbury and everywhere in between.

How Classes Work

Designed for care settings, run by an HCPC-registered physiotherapist:

  • Warm-up, strength and balance circuit, games, cool-down
  • Seated and standing versions of every exercise, run together
  • Props and music that keep sessions social and fun
  • Adaptations for residents living with dementia
  • A brief staff handover after every class
  • Notes on who is progressing and who may need one-to-one input

Who This Helps

Care and residential homes that want residents moving more, falling less and enjoying a regular social fixture, and activity coordinators who want a session that runs itself to a professional standard.

Classes pair naturally with our one-to-one care home physiotherapy: the class keeps everyone active, and residents who need focused rehabilitation are spotted early.

Group Exercise Classes FAQs

Anything else? Ask us directly. A physiotherapist answers every enquiry.

Groups work best at around eight to twelve, so everyone gets attention, but we size each class to your room and your residents rather than a fixed rule.

Yes. Simple instructions, familiar movements, music and plenty of repetition make classes genuinely inclusive, and staff tell us they are often the week's best-attended activity.

A lounge or dining room with sturdy chairs is enough. We bring all the equipment and props ourselves.

Yes, homes can book a single trial class first. Most then settle into a weekly slot.

Around 45 minutes of exercise, with time either side for residents to get settled. Everything is paced to the group, and anyone can rest or step out at any point.

Both. The core of each class is chair-based so everyone can take part, with supported standing work layered in for residents who are safe to progress.

Weekly is the pattern that delivers results: regular enough to build strength, and a fixture residents genuinely look forward to. Some homes add a second weekly class once numbers grow.
