Charlie has been fantastic after my hip replacement, just can't recommend him enough. He was very patient with me while encouraging me with new exercises, and has really helped my confidence to move forward. I've made progress much quicker than I thought I would and that's all thanks to Charlie.

Neuro Physiotherapy in Southampton
Specialist neurological physiotherapy in your own home across Southampton, from Shirley and Bassett to Bitterne, Woolston and Totton.
Specialist Neuro Physio at Home in Southampton
Southampton is home to the Wessex Neurological Centre at Southampton General, so many people across the city come home after a stroke, a brain or spinal injury, or a new neurological diagnosis with a lot of recovery still ahead of them. That recovery depends on practice: the right movements, repeated often, at the right level of challenge. We bring that practice to your home, with a full hour of one-to-one neuro physiotherapy at every visit.
We see people across the city and out to Totton and West End, including in flats, retirement developments and care homes. Some clients see us while they are still having NHS therapy, to add extra practice; many more come to us when NHS rehabilitation ends and they want to keep improving. Either way, you see the same physiotherapist at every visit, and with your permission we keep your GP, consultant or case manager updated.
Every clinician is HCPC registered and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. See our Southampton page for everything else we offer locally, or our neurological physiotherapy page for how we work.

Leaving hospital is when progress can stall. We read your discharge plan and aim to start within days, picking up where the ward or the community team left off.
- Wessex Neurological Centre, Southampton General. Home after neurosurgery, a brain injury or a spinal operation? We build on the inpatient programme in your own home and work towards the goals you set before discharge.
- The stroke service at Southampton General. After a stroke, the months following discharge are when focused practice pays back most. In the early weeks we can visit several times a week.
- Community neuro and stroke teams. If you are already seeing a community team, we can add extra sessions alongside them and carry on when their input ends.
- Private neurology and case management. Seen privately, or supported by a case manager after an injury? We turn the plan into practice at home and report on progress with outcome measures.

What Neuro Physio at Home Includes
A full hour, one to one, with the same physiotherapist every time. We practise on your own stairs, chairs and kitchen, so progress carries straight into daily life, and the people who support you learn how to help between visits.
- A full neurological assessment in your own home, with goals you choose
- Task-specific, repeated practice of the movements you need for daily life
- Balance, walking and transfer retraining, indoors and out
- Management of stiffness, tone and fatigue
- A short daily exercise plan, so practice continues between visits
- Training for family and carers, and outcome measures so progress is plain to see

Hear From Our Clients
Emily is a lovely, engaging, patient and knowledgeable physiotherapist. Her time with my husband during his acute stroke recovery phase has been invaluable. Emily researched and adapted her sessions and exercises to my husband's specific requests and needs. Thank you Emily :-)
I had my first appointment with Charlie last month after coming out of hospital with 5 vertebral fractures. Barely able to walk or do anything for myself. Now 7 weeks later I'm able to walk unaided and do everything to look after myself.
This year my long term orthopaedic conditions and my vestibular migraine have been particularly troublesome. But thanks to Charlie's professional guidance my mobility is greatly improved and I am feeling much more confident when out and about.
After being let down by the NHS I was delighted to find South Coast Home Physiotherapy and it was a real bonus that they come to the home. Emily is skilled, helpful, friendly and solutions focused, providing the 1-1 support my daughter needs.
Professional, reliable and caring. The support from Charlie, our physio, has been invaluable.
Cannot praise them enough! Comprehensive and professional treatment plans that inspire you.
Enormously helpful advice and encouragement. I couldn't recommend more highly.
