Charlie has been fantastic after my hip replacement, just can't recommend him enough. He was very patient with me while encouraging me with new exercises, and has really helped my confidence to move forward. I've made progress much quicker than I thought I would and that's all thanks to Charlie.

Neuro Physiotherapy in Portsmouth
Specialist neurological physiotherapy in your own home across Portsmouth and Southsea, Cosham and Drayton, and out to Havant and Waterlooville.
Specialist Neuro Physio at Home in Portsmouth
Portsmouth is a dense, busy city, and for someone recovering from a stroke or living with Parkinson's or MS, parking, buses and waiting rooms all take energy you would rather spend on getting better. We come to you instead: a full hour of one-to-one neurological physiotherapy in your own home, on your own stairs, chairs and doorstep.
Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham is where most of our Portsmouth neuro clients were treated, and a lot of our work is the next step: building strength, walking and confidence once you are home. We visit terraces, flats and retirement developments across Portsea Island and the mainland, along with care homes, and you see the same physiotherapist at every visit.
Every clinician is HCPC registered and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. See our Portsmouth page for everything else we offer locally, or our neurological physiotherapy page for how we work.

Starting early after discharge is one of the biggest factors in regaining independence. We read your discharge plan and aim to make the first visit within days.
- Queen Alexandra Hospital. Coming home after a stroke or a neurological admission at QA? We pick up the ward's plan and turn it into daily practice at home.
- Wessex Neurological Centre, Southampton. Treated in Southampton after neurosurgery or a brain or spinal injury? We continue the programme at home in Portsmouth.
- Community stroke and neuro teams. Already seeing a community team? We can add extra sessions alongside them and carry on when their input ends.
- Private neurology and case management. Seen privately, or supported by a case manager? We turn the plan into practice at home and report on progress.

What Neuro Physio at Home Includes

- A full neurological assessment in your own home, with goals you choose
- Task-specific, repeated practice of the movements you need for daily life
- Balance, walking and transfer retraining, indoors and out
- Management of stiffness, tone and fatigue

Support for Families in Portsmouth
Physiotherapy works best alongside the right support. These are some of the groups and charities we often point Portsmouth families towards:

- Stroke Association. Information, a helpline and support for stroke survivors and their families, including help with life after hospital.
- MS Society. Local MS Society groups run activities, information and support for people living with MS and the people close to them.
- Headway. The brain injury charity, with advice, information and support for families living with the effects of a brain injury.
Hear From Our Clients
Emily is a lovely, engaging, patient and knowledgeable physiotherapist. Her time with my husband during his acute stroke recovery phase has been invaluable. Emily researched and adapted her sessions and exercises to my husband's specific requests and needs. Thank you Emily :-)
I had my first appointment with Charlie last month after coming out of hospital with 5 vertebral fractures. Barely able to walk or do anything for myself. Now 7 weeks later I'm able to walk unaided and do everything to look after myself.
This year my long term orthopaedic conditions and my vestibular migraine have been particularly troublesome. But thanks to Charlie's professional guidance my mobility is greatly improved and I am feeling much more confident when out and about.
After being let down by the NHS I was delighted to find South Coast Home Physiotherapy and it was a real bonus that they come to the home. Emily is skilled, helpful, friendly and solutions focused, providing the 1-1 support my daughter needs.
Professional, reliable and caring. The support from Charlie, our physio, has been invaluable.
Cannot praise them enough! Comprehensive and professional treatment plans that inspire you.
Enormously helpful advice and encouragement. I couldn't recommend more highly.
