Why Neck Pain Responds Well to Physiotherapy

Neck pain and stiffness are incredibly common, particularly for people who spend long hours at a desk or on a phone. Physiotherapy is highly effective, and we bring it straight to you.

Neck pain arises from the joints, discs and muscles of the cervical spine and often goes hand in hand with headaches and shoulder-blade aching. Restoring movement, addressing posture and workstation set-up, and a short daily routine usually resolves it.

Desks, Screens and the Posture Myth

There is no single perfect posture: necks hate stillness more than they hate any particular position. Long motionless hours at a screen, a laptop below eye level, or a pillow that leaves the head tilted all ask the neck to grumble.

Because we come to you, we set up your actual desk, screen and pillow on the spot: small changes that remove the trigger rather than treating its consequences forever.

When Headaches Start in the Neck

A large share of recurring headaches are cervicogenic: driven by the upper neck joints and muscles, typically one-sided, starting at the skull base and creeping forward. These respond well to hands-on treatment plus specific strengthening, and poorly to painkillers alone.

We assess whether your headaches fit the pattern and treat the source rather than the symptom.

Questions

Neck Pain FAQs

The one that keeps your neck level with the rest of your spine in your usual sleeping position. Side sleepers generally need a thicker profile than back sleepers. We check yours on your own bed, which beats any generic recommendation.

Sustained stillness is usually the bigger culprit than any single position. Movement breaks and a workstation that fits you matter more than sitting rigidly 'correctly'.

Almost never. Joint sounds without pain are normal and harmless. Sounds accompanied by new pain or dizziness are worth assessing, which is exactly what we do.

If they are cervicogenic (starting from the neck), yes, often substantially. We assess whether yours fit the pattern and are honest if they look like a type that needs your GP instead.

Most straightforward neck pain settles in three to six sessions with a short daily routine. Long-standing problems take longer to rebuild, and we give you an honest estimate up front.
